Farewells

Farewells

While it seems that the world is dominated by events involving our disastrous non-government, there are actually a few things which can override even those headlines.

We lost Dolly Parton this week. Perhaps the best known country music star of all time, she was the epitome of kindness, love and generosity. Her deeds of selfless actions to help those less fortunate than herself are well known. Her contributions to the music industry in general, and to her fans specifically, are legendary.

From a humble beginning to superstar, her boundless energy and enthusiasm were contagious to those who witnessed, in person, her performances. She will be sorely missed.

Another passing of a lesser known individual has also hit home with devastating results. My good friend Dixie passed away this week. She and her late husband were  long time friends of mine. She lost Don several years ago but her strength and the love of her sons carried her on. Dixie, you are alive in my memory .

Here’s a thought; maybe Dixie and Dolly will get together in heaven. WOW, what a combination that would be!!!

Out of respect for the two individuals named, I will refrain from my usual commentary on happenings in that lunatic asylum known as Washington, D.C.

But even so, remember:
