In The Beginning

Since long before Donald trump ran for office the first time I was aware of his out-of-control ego and narcissism. Just the fact that he referred to himself as ‘the donald’ was a clear indication that he could never accept the fact that he was, actually, a normal, perhaps below average, individual.

As his business failures piled up and the bankruptcies seemed to be never-ending, I could not imagine that he would, someday, actually be the (pretend) President of the United States of America.

I could not, and to this day cannot, begin to understand how any rational, thinking, citizen of this formerly great country could support him. The utter contempt he displays for anyone who does not pay fealty to him, the blatant racism and bigotry he promotes, the total lack of empathy or ethics which is on constant display, make it extremely difficult for me to believe that there are so many like-minded citizens in America.

After losing the 2015 presidential election to Hillary Clinton by some 3,000,000 votes, he nevertheless became President of the United States after receiving more ‘electoral college’ votes. In other words, the will of the people be damned.

As if that weren’t enough insanity, the House of Representatives and the Senate also came under control of the Republican party which insured that, no matter what the consequences, trumps agenda would be approved by Congress.

It didn’t take long for trump to display his intent for the future of this country. Among his campaign promises was to eliminate the ACA, or Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as  ‘Obamacare’. This legislation, passed under the leadership of President Barak Obama, made it possible for millions of Americans to get medical treatment they would have otherwise been unable to receive.

Among the other campaign promises he made was the one to ‘drain the swamp’ as he put it. He didn’t explain that he would turn it into a sewer. It didn’t take long for that to become apparent, however.

His appointments to the various positions as department heads were a clear indication of his intent to eliminate protections enacted by previous administrations.

The appointment of Rick Perry of Texas as Secretary of Energy would have been laughable if it were not such a serious violation of public protection. Perry, the former governor of Texas, was an oilman through and through with the interests of the petroleum industry as his core operating philosophy. As governor of Texas and a presidential candidate he advocated eliminating the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY , the Department of Education, and the Commerce Department.

Scott Pruitt was the attorney general of Oklahoma. As such, he despised the Environmental Protection Agency, claiming that it’s rules and regulations concerning the protection of the environment were totally beyond reason and should be eliminated.

So, naturally, who did trump appoint as administrator of the EPA? Pruitt, of course. The fact Pruitt also wanted to get rid of Obama’s ACA didn’t hurt his standing with trump either.

While Rick Perry wanted to do away with the Department of Education, trump instead appointed Betsy DeVoss, daughter-in-law of Amway co-founder Rich DeVoss, to be head of the Department of Education.

Her primary goal was to divert public funds to private schools through a school voucher program. You can also interpret this to mean schools with theological leanings.

Dr. Ben Carson was a highly respected heart surgeon. He was also a former presidential candidate. When his candidacy didn’t work out, he became a staunch trump acolyte. One of his pet peeves was government aid to poor people. He said, not verbatum, “poverty is a state of mind”. He felt that the government spent far more on aid to the poor that it should. So, of course, trump made him the head of Housing and Urban Development. HUD. The very agency which was responsible for helping the poor.

The list goes on and on but there is an underlying theme to the whole process: Screw America.

In later ‘rants’ I’ll talk about other shenanigans pulled by this administration throughout the ‘reign of terror’ we have experienced since 2016.

It is my firm belief that America will not survive another full four years of this sort of incompetent leadership. With midterm elections coming up in Nov. 2026 it is of critical importance that we turn America blue.

MAGA showed a sea of red caps. Let’s inundate the United States with an ocean of blue caps.
